A Happy Family Thought

This blog has really given me a chance to think about all the things I am grateful for. One of them I thought I would share. I have been married for 9 years. WOW! Sometimes I don't feel old enough to say that. Anyways, when I joined my husbands family there was something very important that happened. His family immediately made me part of their family. Not an "in-law", but a sister, a daughter, and a granddaughter. I have always appreciated that. Still to this day my husbands sisters treat me like a real sister, which is nice because until I was married I just had 1 brother. My husbands mom and grandmother do the same things for me that they do for their real children and grandchildren. That really makes me feel loved. It just tells me that they consider me family. For some reason there is a real difference between "in-law" and family. There is a difference in the connection. I don't know if they do this for any particular reason, but I am sure they would treat anyone my husband married the same way. It really touched me, and there are days when I really appreciate it. I love my family, they are all very important to me. I love the many people and friends I consider family. You know who you are. Thank you for letting me in your life. Just thought I would share that happy family thought.
As always, if you have a similar experience please share!

I know what you mean Maria. Not so much with the in-laws although my father-in-law truly treated me like a daughter when he was stiil here. As you know my mother-in-law was incapacited by the time we were married. But I had what people would refer to as half brother or step sister and step father in my life that weren't "half" or "step" to me. My heart and soul loves them the same way I love my other siblings. I'm happy to know that you feel that your in-laws have not only opened their hearts to you but have made you feel like you are a part of their family from the "inside" and not as an outsider coming in. I hope anyone reading this will realize just how much that means.

Dear Maria, When you married our brother, you were sealed to him and to all of us. Of course you are a sister! And a lovely, dear sister at that.

I'm glad that you started this blog. It is a nice way to keep up with you and your family.
